„Sit by the beautiful big open windows and watch the people walking by on Karl-Marx-Straße.”
Two friends of mine opened Paolo Pinkel in January. It's a surprisingly intimate spot on the corner of Karl-Marx-Straße and Weichelstraße. Even though Berlin is changing drastically, especially in Neukölln, it's nice to see that a place like this can still open and work. A lot of thought has gone into its (funny) decor.
If you want, you can spend almost 24 hours in Paolo Pinkel—something I may have done. Grab a coffee there at 11 a.m. Sit by the beautiful big open windows and watch the people walking by on Karl-Marx_Straße. When you get hungry, choose between the restaurant's three kitchens: You can go for either Chinese, Cypriot (the marinated chicken!) or Peruvian (the ceviche!!!!).
You can watch the food being made: Each menu has its own open kitchen, and the entire staff is lovely!
Once you’ve had your food, you can move to the bar area, which ought to take you close to 24 hours. Then, you can start over, or even better, move on to the next place.
