„The space is kept among a small group of artists and musicians, and one should feel very lucky to get an invitation to their new location.”
Tbili orgia’s name is based on word play between the English and Georgian languages. It is short for “Tbilisi, Georgia”, but the two letters absent from each word create “Tbili orgia”, which means “warm orgy” in Georgian. It is also the artist name of a local musician who, along with his associates, hosts underground parties in their studio every two months. Tbili orgia started at a peculiar location: a semi-abandoned hospital—which is still operational, just only on the ground floor. The space is kept among a small group of artists and musicians, and one should feel very lucky to get an invitation to their new location. Tbili orgia also has its own music label—where artists record tracks under made up names—and will soon start an online streaming platform devoted to exploring the diverse music trends in Tbilisi’s various boroughs.
