MARe Museum - A private museum for recent Romanian art

„It hosts an extensive permanent collection of works form influential Romanian contemporary artists.”

Mare means "Big" in Romanian, but it also is an acronym for "The Museum of Recent Art". MARe hosts a permanent private collection of with works by influential Romanian contemporary artists like Andrei Cădere, Ion Țuculescu, Horia Bernea, Paul Neagu, Ion Grigorescu, Dan Perjovschi, Dumitru Gorzo, Victor Man, Gili Mocanu, Ion Bârlădeanu, Vlad Nancă and others. The building itself was owned by Ana Pauker, a feared communist party leader, Foreign Affairs Minister and cruel Stalinist torturer, but now it has been carefully renovated and specially designed to be a cutting-edge museum.
