Charité Museum of Medical History

About this place

The museum of Medical History is funded by Charité University Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in Europe. The museum is located in Mitte and hosts a permanent exhibition titled “On the Trace of Life”, which gives insight into the past 300 years of medical history. The exhibit includes wet and dry preparations of specimens, medical instruments, historic German discoveries in medicine and even specimens of genetic malformations and diseases. The museum may not be for the faint of heart, but it turns potentially dry topics into interesting, accessible ideas. Rent an audio guide if you can, as it gives useful insight into the objects on view.
